I wanted to create a logo that both reassured prospective customers of the quality of decorating services John Wood offers, whilst demonstrating the diversity of his skills.
In a very competitive market (that's often not trusted), its crucial to be sufficiently different from the rest of the competitors and convince potential clients that you can be trusted.
The final design includes:
- the clever 'tick' logo using his initials (JW) - it can be seen as a stamp of approval or a job done well. The purpose of the shape is to reassure.
- colours that are presented similar to a painting swatch (in a grid-like fashion) and are carefully varied in tones and intensity's. The purpose of the colour selection was to link to sector and show diversity.
- excessive use of bold colours and sharp edges don't feature in the design. John provides a friendly successful decorating service which was built on his approachable good nature.
